The Cardiology team has enrolled its 100th Iowa Fontan patient for the Fontan Outcomes Network (FON). Fontan is a surgery to treat single-ventricle heart disease in young children. The Fontan Clinic at University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital is Iowa's only comprehensive, multidisciplinary program for children following Fontan completion and as they become young adults.

Iowa has the fourth-largest number of consented patients in the FON collaborative—especially impressive when compared to much larger teams at other institutions.

"This is an amazing accomplishment and once again a testament to what teamwork can do," said Cardiology Division Director Ian Law, MD.
