One thing that makes Iowa's pediatric endocrinology division unique is the breadth of patient pathology that we see because of our catchment area size, and the strength of other specialties bringing both bread and butter and truly complex patient pathology into our clinics and floors. Our fellows receive diversified training as they learn alongside some of the nation's experts in these pathologies and learn directly from patient care.

Lauren Kanner, MD, Associate Clinical Professor

The Iowa Difference

The effective practice of pediatric endocrinology requires thorough grounding in the theory and knowledge of normal and abnormal physiology and pathophysiology in endocrinology patients from infancy until adulthood. It also requires the acquisition of clinical skills, the effective application of knowledge and skills in diagnosis and treatment of patients, and life-long learning with continuous critical examination of our assumptions.

We pride ourselves in helping fellows become well-rounded and insightful pediatric endocrinologists who excel in clinical medicine and research. Above all, our goal is to equip you to succeed in any career path through clinical experience and personalized mentorship, while embracing the unique humanity that allows each of us to provide exemplary and compassionate care for our patients.
