Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics-Cardiology Kamel Shibbani, MD

Iowa city has a very cozy feel to it, and it's very easy to get comfortable living here, even as a trainee! And after spending a year in San Diego as an interventional cardiology fellow, I have a new appreciation for the importance of being able to rent a house on a resident/fellow salary!!  I'm also a very avid soccer player, and there's no shortage of games on the weekend here!

The Iowa Difference

Pediatric cardiology fellows are active and integral members of the cardiac care team in all environments, including hands-on experience in our catheterization and electrophysiology labs, working routinely with our heart failure team in managing VAD and heart transplant patients, and spending significant time with our advanced imaging group to become experienced in echocardiography and develop additional skills in cardiac CT/MRI. Fellows also have ample elective and research time to pursue individual interests.

We pride ourselves in helping fellows become well-rounded and insightful pediatric cardiologists who excel in clinical medicine and research. Above all, our goal is to equip you to succeed in any career path through clinical experience and personalized mentorship, while embracing the unique humanity that allows each of us to provide exemplary and compassionate care for our patients.
